Love is Blind

For a year and a day, our little band of adventurers travelled. Across the smoking hills above Baan, through wild, forgotten valleys deep to the south of Nimea, to the very shores of the Cursed Sea. In all that time, my trust and faith the judgment of Talon, our leader, did not once falter. I, like the others, followed his lead, and in truth it was only his bravery and foresight that brought us through those impossible dangers alive.

And now we return, our mission an unmitigated success. In the last year and a day, we have become close, all of us. We have risked life and limb, honour and sanity for the Quest and for each other. I was a fool to think that life outside the Quest would be the same. There is no place for the wild camaraderie of heroes in a time of peace. And so, we resume our lives, for the time being, until the City Elders once more see fit to send us Questing for the next lost treasure, misplaced sacred relic or stolen family heirloom.

As for me, I will return to the family farm, and lose myself in honest, hard work. After all, how can a simple country girl like me hope to compete with the charms of an elven princess?
